(foto: I found one young lady with some dude there..lucky vato)

I've got a cold AGAIN.  This time I didn't get it from my son but from hanging out with a bunch of dudes at the BIG 3 Auto Swamp meet in San Diego.  It's pretty cool going there every year, you go there searching for parts but this year I decided to sell my parts, my garage is starting to look like a storage bin.  The only problem I had was the rain that came down, it drove all the customers away so I only made a couple of bucks.  It's all good, I'm no Sanford & Son and I wasn't trying to get rich off selling my parts but yeah I could use the money, we all could use the extra cash in these crazy times.

I guess you can call the whole experience, cheap entertainment for guys.  I think the majority of guys there just wanted an excuse to get away from the wives lol.  I honestly believe that, I mean why would you break out the motor home, open up the storage shed with parts, and spend 3 days at big parking lot trying to sell them?  I know why and I'll keep my mouth shut and keep the marriages together..

As a big fan of Chicano Music one of my favorite groups is El Chicano.  Their music speaks to my soul and I love hearing the brown melodies.  From Don't put me down cause I'm Brown to Tell her she's lovely and all the other great instrumentals in between, their music will always have a special place in my heart and on my radio shows.  RIP Bobby Espinosa, I'll do my best to keep your music alive.

Thanks to Jimmy Jam The Pepsi man aka Jim Hernandez for always shoving records in my face with the brown sound and those rare hard to find cuts from El Chicano.

The Musica will never die as long as someone listens...

When you grow up in a small town there is not much to do except go CRUISING. I enjoyed cruising with my buddies all the time, though we never had that great looking lowrider or mini truck we did have each other and that made for many laughs.

The song that sticks out most during those times was Nu Shooz "I can't wait", it was a great song to cruise to especially if you had a great sound system in your car, we didn't but we pretended we did by hooking up house speakers to the stereo. LOL What song do you remember cruising to back in the day? Holla at me by going to the contact page of my site.

I always get asked from my male listeners, "Xavier, what should I get my wife for Valentine's Day?"  Here is what you should get her MAKE UP, not that she's not already beautiful but because women love make up and enjoy adding to their beauty.

Click Here for your Valentine's Special.  She'll love you even more and you'll be able to work on your car without her nagging you.

Before I give my thoughts on V-Day I thought I'd share this email with you.  I read it on my Sunday Show and got a tremendous response on it.  It's about change and breaking through to your kids even if all hope is lost.

God Bless,

Xavier

question: Xavier, My Husband & I Would like to thank you, for what we feel, you had a part in helping save our Sons Life!
4 Yrs. ago we were dealing with my sons addiction to drugs, he was out on the street, we didn't know from day to day if he were alive or where he was staying. Everyday & night we would drive around where we thought he may be, sometimes running into him, a quick hello, and a kiss & Hug. Everyday we told him we loved him and if he decided to get help we were there for him. We Prayed for him night and Day. Well it was close to Thanksgiving and we were listening to your oldies on Sunday night, when YOU played a song the parties Over, that song just gave me chills, I emailed you to find out who sang that song, and you got back to me right away! I wanted to buy it for my son's birthday which was on 12/5. Well I ordered it and looked for my son so I could give it to him. We ran into him a couple of days after his birthday, I gave it to him asked him to listen to the song if he had a chance, and again told him when he was ready we would be there. New Years Day HE CALLED!He was ready to get help! He did listen to the song, it made him cry! He Came home went to rehab in San Jose and was there 90 days, moved into a sober living house, started working there helping others,HE stayed there 2 years. Yesterday 1/4 is 4 YEARS HE IS SOBER. He has a good Job, and a wonderful girlfriend, looking to buy a house, and possibly getting married. Thats why we feel you had a part in it. You helped start is Journey back home to his family. Thank You for playing the song! Thank you for getting back to me right away!
God Bless You and your family. P.S Keep it real and as you say every morning KEEP THE FAITH!

(Here is a foto I took when I went to lay my abuelita to rest.  I miss holding her hand.  X)

It's been a minute since I've been on my site and I apologize for that.

Since the New Year, things have started to change in my life; career, family, friends and opportunities  have all somewhat popped their heads in front of me.   What to do?  I know that old cliché, “Change is the only constant” blah blah blah, ah but I'm finding some truth to it.  It usually happens when you don’t want it or when your pretty comfortable in your life.  I totally get it. BUT, for some reason I’ve been thinking about it ...A LOT.  I guess that’s why I’ve been "on hold" with my website (thinking takes a lot of time, lol), I know it’s not an excuse but it’s the truth ( I have over 200 emails I need to respond to) OUCH!  I promise I will get to every one of them.  I pride myself in being able to be "one on one" with you, so I will get to it as soon as I finish writing this.

When I recently went home to visit my lovely mother and the rest of the family, I realized that things have changed.  My sister got a new job; my brother and his wife are having a baby; Mom’s TV decided to call it quits on her, and so on.  I realized time has just flown by me these past 10 years and I’m wondering...what happened?  I guess what I’m saying is; I need to slow down, we all need to slow down, enjoy life and really appreciate those around us (familia and those we love) and cherish what we have in our lives.  I miss my family dearly and I need to keep in touch with them because if I don’t time will pass by so fast, before you know it, the next time I go home I’ll be the Compadre in my unborn nieces Sweet 16 flipping the bill on the DJ!  LOL!

God Bless,

Xavier

"Driving into 2010 with the metal to the pedal."

Make this year your greatest year ever.  I know I'll do my best to keep it positive and make things better for me and for those around me.  I know that change is coming because it has to, 2009 was tough on everyone but I think we will all have a better 2010, we just have to keep the FAITH!

God Bless,

Xavier
